Dari Johnson, M.S. Early Childhood Specialist, miniyogis®yoga for kids certified. Creator of Stretching Bodies, Stretching Imaginations Kids Yoga Story Time Cards.
“My hope is that the thematic pose selections will prompt
users to create their own yoga sequences for endless fun. The graphic
character seemed to come alive with a personality thus leading to a name
– the Sanskrit word of peace – “Shanti”. Perhaps in some small way, these
cards will encourage children to stretch their bodies and imaginations
toward a peaceful, safe, healthy world willed with loving kindness.”
Clarissa Moreno, Graphic Designer. Illustrator of Stretching Bodies Stretching Imaginations Kids Yoga Story Time Cards.
“This project is very unique and close to my heart! When Dari approached me about designing/illustrating "Shanti" in 2012 I was very excited. Over the next three years my sons, Ayden and Logan, would become my little yogi assistants. They would eagerly try to make their bodies into the shape of the yoga pose, thus helping me be precise in illustrating Shanti's movement and flow throughout. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of the Kids Yoga Story Time Cards & Lesson Plans as I did in creating them!"
My name in Sanskrit means Peace. You can see me on all the cards doing yoga poses!
"Yoga poses are shapes you make with your body. Look at
how I stretch, balance and move. Follow my clues by yourself, with friends,
your family or teacher. Even pets like to do yoga stretches. Follow my
nose to help guide your body to look or move up, down, to the side or
straight ahead. Remember: What you do on one side, you do on the other.
Namaste means share the light of your ideas, eyes and smile with those around you."
